Grupo Innova Sports is the new owner of Club Sporting Cristal

Innova Sports, a Peruvian sports management group, bought 100% of the shares of Club Sporting Cristal.
The new owner will continue with the strategy and philosophy of the celestial club.

Lima, September 19, 2019.- The Sporting Cristal Club formalized the sale of all its shares to the sports management group Innova Sports, who will be in charge of its operation from today. The purpose of this transaction is to continue strengthening the position of Sporting Cristal as a benchmark in management in national and international football.

“Our main goal in the shareholder evaluation was to give continuity to the club’s positioning strategy and we are confident in Innova Sports’ ability to continue promoting its growth,” said María Julia Sáenz, vice president of the Sporting Cristal board.

In this way, Innova Sports begins a new era with the Rimense club, committed to the commitment to diversifying income and developing educational football, which has led the club to achieve important achievements in recent years in local tournaments, with four national titles in the last seven years.

“Both the Sporting Cristal Club and its fans have our commitment and will to work together to continue being the club with the best institutional and sports management in the country, thus guaranteeing its sustainability and growth,” said Joel Raffo, founding partner of Innova Sports.

Innova Sports, a Peruvian multinational group with more than 11 years of experience in the soccer industry, has developed projects such as LaNueve, the first youth soccer portal in our country; the U-12 International Tournament, which featured the participation of 20 teams from the first division of Spain; the representation of the Johan Cruyff Institute in Peru; the development of the regional festivals of the FC Barcelona Foundation, among others.

The arrival of Innova Sports marks the departure of Backus from the shareholding of Sporting Cristal, after more than 60 years of a proud history and 19 titles in the First Division, including the three-time championship between 1994 and 1996, and turning the club into the Peruvian team with the most presence in the Copa Libertadores de América, with 34 participations, the most memorable being the 1997 runner-up.
